Building the High School Transcript

This workshop covers the materials needed to build the transcript including graduation recommendations, course names, course objectives and high school credits. We walk through the steps to create the transcript and resume, understand what details colleges are looking for in a competitive application, and determine the GPA (grade point average). A transcript template, resume questionnaire, course and credit recommendations, and high school planner are included with workshop. Even if the student is in middle school, you can begin this process and know how to stay organized as you go. For those colleges requiring the SRAR (self-reported academic record), we cover this process as well.

Completing the College Application Workshop

This workshop for high school juniors and seniors covers what is necessary for completing college applications online, writing cover letters, completing the resume, requesting letters of recommendation and writing application essays.  Included is several online resources, samples, templates, and essay editing review. We will look at Common Data Sets and college missions statements and how they both inform the process. For those colleges requiring the SRAR (self-reported academic record), we cover this process as well. Materials needed: student email address, updated high school transcript, high school resume, ApplyTexas student account, and CommonApp student account. Parent(s) may attend with student for free.

Finding Financial Aid for College Workshop

This workshop for high school juniors and seniors covering available online research and resources for finding scholarships, college entrance exams and best test prep practices, writing a scholarship essay, and completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Specifically, I will go over different sources of financial aid, where to look for scholarships, best practices in applying for scholarships, and the new FAFSA and what it means for your student in preparing for college expenses.

Senior College Application Bootcamp

A one-day work-day where your senior completes all aspects of their college applications in order to have them submitted by November 1st (most Texas public university’s early action deadline).  This includes profiles, essays, letters of recommendations, transcripts, resumes, and test score submissions.
